ok. what do you do when you finally go to said anticipated event and get nothing you expected? yeah. i just got back from a hayride and bonfire thingy, and it was absolutely not what i was thinking it would be. here i am, in the mood to get the junk scared out of me soooooo bad that i'll need to wear depends for the next month anytime before i go to sleep, expecting a hayride where lazy-eyed psychos jump out from around every corner and the girls all hang onto the boys and say stuff like, "cover my eyes and tell me everything's gonna be alright," and what do i get???
"alright. you've never been on one of our hayrides before?"
"nope."
"oh. ok, well we always drive for a while and then we stop and sing a bunch of songs, so think of a bunch of songs for when we get down there."
"uhhhhhh... ok?"
i've never had a surprise like that thrown on me. i didn't know what to do. i wasn't in the mood to sing. not that i couldn't or wouldn't, but i was in the mood to scream. i was in the mood to wet my pants. i was in the mood to clutch onto a huddled mass of people like they were momma and bam!, it was snatched away like a freshman trying to sneak an extra to-go box out of faulkner's cafeteria.
i did enjoy the food and the friends there. great loaded hotdogs. great candy. great time with one of my soul sistas kickin' back, laughin', and makin' fun of white folk. it was fun. just not the kind of fun i was looking for tonight. not the kind of fun that is easily replaced with having to lead singing last-minute. i hope everybody else had a great time.
i had to leave early. once you're ready for a good scare, you can't just put it out like that. so here i am, posting right before i continue my search for the great scare of 2004. i'll probably just rent a movie and call it a night, so it must be a good one. what shall i rent... glitter?... ishtar?... battlefield earth?... i don't know! seriously, though, it's gotta be a good one. well, i'm off!
