my dog is so sweet. it's like having surgery made her a million times more cuddly and clingy. she just follows me around and lays at me feet or lets me rub her ears repeatedly. no nipping or play-chewing, just pure 100% sweetness. i wonder how long it will last? it sure is good for being able to focus on other things. i love my doggy.

enough with that. i've been prepping for the big interview and reading loads of books on selling yourself, interview skills, asking questions, answering questions, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. they all seem to come down to one thing that matters most: be yourself. is it really that easy?! just be myself? act natural? don't have a cow. yes, there are many other little things that play a part like knowing about the organization and people you are interviewing for, but being genuine just seems to come out on top of everybody's lists. you know, i think that as long as i'm praying this thing up, being real, and placing my confidence in knowing the Lord will provide for me, i have nothing to worry about. job or no job, my God is a provider, and He will provide a job for me when He sees fit. now i have to repeat that every morning, afternoon, and night, but it is true. He will provide. Jehovah Jireh- the Lord is my Provider.

you ever come across people that change your life or impact you in a somewhat negative way? i'm not talking about, like, clowns killing your parents at the circus right before your very eyes. i'm just saying, generally, there are those people who happen to be just a bit too bizarre or macabre that you happen to worry about the extent of your natural lifespan when you are in close proximity to them. i think i've stumbled upon this sort of thing in the cult following of yu-gi-oh!

a card game is just a card game, right? apparently not. we have these tournaments every saturday at work, wherein kids from elementary school all the way up to full-grown men come and "duel" with their collections of hyped up characters and magic spells. now that alone makes one immediately nerdy and a little less dateable than the average male, but this is not just any card game. i've heard of plenty of these things where a new game comes out and the craze gets you buying useless amounts of cards that really will be worth nothing in a year or 2. i've seen the folks who follow after this stuff and they usually just seem like your average gandalf-worshipper, complete with card case and an occasional 20-sided die.

so what? let me tell you what i've seen at work. these yu-gi-oh! people are crazy. i'd say about 99.9% of them are just about as socially inept as forrest gump at the black panthers hangout. i watch them drool over the perfect card, plot the statistical likelihood of finding it in a certain pack of cards, and clutch their decks close to their hearts in little spindly hands that move only to push glasses up on a nose or brush greasy hair behind an ear. it is scary. i see some of these kids and think of that scene in the classic salem's lot where the little vampire kid is scratching at the window to be let in by his friend, a la glowing devil eyes, pointy fangs, and pasty skin. it's like a convention of those little buggers every week, iced with a few potential pedophiles for good measure. ugh. yu-gi-oh! scares the crap out of me. (and a ps- if you happen to disagree with this, then congratulations on being possibly one of those .1% of players who don't fit the mold. give yourself a pat on the back.)

i got to see my sister for easter. joy! i've missed her, and it was nice to go to church together after a long time of being separated by a single county. however will we see each othe ragain? i write this jokingly, but come may it will be no joke since what was once 1 county will become 1 state. that's how it rolls, though. i saw my good old pal mitzi, too. haven't seen her in forever. this post would not be complete with mentioning her unless i ended it just right:

good times.
