change is good
life has brought in plenty of surprises lately. a score of job opportunities have landed in my lap in the past week, thank God, and i couldn't be more thankful for it. i'll be starting work for an apartment property this week as a leasing agent and marketing guy. the job matches my personality and work ethic perfectly, leaving me a lot of room to use people skills and creativity. looking forward to this. in the meantime, i've been doing some flex-time over at another property as a groundskeeper, which ain't too bad. it is very humbling, though, to spend a couple of hours picking up cigarette butts and shoveling dirt from gutters. a needed experience for many people, in my honest opinion. a lot of folks think they're too good to do grunt work these days. anyway...
life has also brought me an acceptance letter from indiana state university. starting january, i will be working my way toward a master of science in criminology. the whole thing is online, so i'll still be in montgomery keeping it real. i'm really pumped about it- this program is one more step in the right direction for me getting into the career i want. class of '08, baby!
in a move to get some financial peace, i've been taking classes at landmark from financial peace university with dave ramsey. every wednesday i get to feel like an idiot as i recount all of the poor money mistakes i've made in the last 7 years. the good news is that i don't have to live under those mistakes as long as i move to correct them the right way and learn my lessons. so far, i love the class. here's to being debt-free soon enough!
in other news, my woman bought a house! i couldn't be more proud of her, jen is doing so many awesome things. i mean, come on now, her first house! that's amazing! sweetheart, i am so happy for you, and can't wait to help you fix it up. this place is gonna look incredible when we're done with it.
