my break that is not a break

funniest/grossest thing of my day: i've been working at books-a-million for a little over 2 weeks now, and i've gotten to the cool part where i can wear the trademark apron and proudly proclaim my bondage to the man. anyway, i happened to borrow an apron from one of the managers, seeing how there are usually only enough for the people on shift. i'm doing my duty up in customer service, handing out toothy grins and how d'you do's, when my hand brushes the front apron pocket and feels a small bump. curiouser and curiouser, my hand explores the outside of the pocket to find that, yes, there is something in there. so i do the obvious and reach in. it is solid. smooth. a rock? hmmm... i pull it out, and it is a tooth! a big decayed old tooth! i went ocd on hand-washing for the next hour. turns out the manager lost a crown some good while back and put the thing in her apron. what the crap?! gross!

today jen and i, along with a couple of friends, decided to pay a visit to the only greek orthodox church within 50 miles. we got there to see that there were only 3 cars in the parking lot, so i go in all big and bad to investigate and see that there are indeed no people around, until i saw a priest in the back come out in his ye olde purple holy robes. it was like i'd traveled back in time a millenium and a half. the decor was really cool in an old ancient way, and there were candles and stained glass everyhere. we left and went to breakfast and then church at landmark. maybe i'll go sometime when there are people there. turns out we arrived in time for the "pre-service" which only the holiest of the holy go to. yeah, all the real sinners arrive at 10:00am. note to self: go at 10:00am next time.

well, i'm facing the looming reality of this spring being my last semester at faulkner. i've loved it, but thank God already! i will be glad to move on, because it is about time i did so. the fall turned out very well, with a beautiful 4.0 to polish up my gpa, from only 2 classes no less. i really only had 3 classes this semester, with 1 of those being an internship i'm taking an incomplete on until i finish up in february. so i guess it doesn't do too much to my gpa, but it can't hurt, so meh.

between now and graduation: passion '06!
i'm absolutely looking forward to having an awesome time hearing the giglio, the piper, and beth moore, as well as worship with the tomlin, the redman, the charlie, shane&shane, and watermark. a sad moment- watermark is coming to a close after they release their last cd this spring.

it stinks. they are by far my favorite group, and the closest thing i have to a musical obsession, considering i have every one of their albums, post-sons and daughters era. perhaps they'll hook it back up with charlie and kimber hall to do the sons and daughters thing. t'would be cool. and how about the new charlie hall album coming out at passion?

i'll be listenin' me to some of that, believe you me.

well, time for a little something i stole from a buddy's blog.

5 of life's simple pleasures that i like the most...
1. days where it is 72 outside and barely breezy.
2. kissing in the rain. ;)
3. knowing i just made a person laugh, whether i was funny or just plain stupid.
4. indian summers where you can study outside and see the leaves falling.
5. food.

5 weird things about myself...
1. sometimes i just forget to eat, then i have to binge. it sucks.
2. i can predict the weather with my headaches.
3. hearing about injuries like broken bones makes my bones ache.
4. i like oldschool country music, like loretta lynn and hank williams, jr.
5. i have a tough time containing my interior monologue.

hasta.
