exploring my ancestral faith
19 July 2005

random serious thought: i would just love to visit a greek orthodox church sometime.

it's a faith that goes back through my dad's side of the family, all the way back to the ukraine, before those scandalous oleksas decided to jump on the boat and hightail it for the statue of liberty.

for someone who was a little "catholiphobe" back in the day, i never thought i'd end up being so curious or interested about their greek orthodox "pals". been checking out a lot of their doctrine and the general spirit of what the typical orthodox church is like, and it's pretty fascinating. this ponderance came, of course, after one of them big ol' quizzes ranked the greek orthodox faith as a 100% match to what i believe. how about that? i didn't see it comin'. so here's to exploring my ancestors a little bit more, and a good time to be had at their expense.

2nd random thought of the day: i am so blessed to have a girlfriend who can get her need for affection met by me simply running my hand through her hair. thank God i even like doing that. He knew what He was doing when He put those particular desires in us.
