it's funny how when you wait for over a week to post again, you end up just playing catch up, and then find a million things in your post that should be elaborated on individually. wait, that's just me.

anyway.

i'm really thinkin' love is a cool thing these days. it's also scary as all get out, but hey, it's nice out and i'm typing in between sneezes, so love is cool.

but seriously, i've been pondering this stuff on and off for a while, and here's some of my stuff: my parents' original marriages fell apart, even after they made vows and all. what makes me any more sure of what jen and i have? yeah, we're only dating, but not really, we're quite seriously dating at this point, and we both know each other's intentions. there is a beautiful horizon being approached together. we love each other crazily. but still there's that question of what on earth did my parents teach me about love? who are my role models for marriage? do i look to grandparents? close married friends? elders and their wives? Jesus and His Bride?

love is a scary thing.
one day you're on cloud 9, the next you're signing the divorce papers. one day you're popping the champagne bottle, the next you're just wanting a beer with the guys. one day you're soaking it up with your soulmate, the next you're changing diapers on the (surprise!) quints.
love is a scary thing.

forgive my melodrama, but i think it gets the point across. just some pondered panderings from a lovesick fool. every time i think about the stuff, though, i am gladdened that i can look to my parents now as a true example of what a loving relationship looks like. serious, it parallels Christ and the Church how my mom and dad love one another. i am so grateful that i have them to learn from. this june will be the celebration of their 10th anniversary. woot woot for sure!

to answer a previous question, the devotional that jen and i are going through right now is called devotions for dating couples: building a foundation for spiritual intimacy, by samuel adams and ben young. i've actually misplaced mine somehow this week and am frantically searching for it. it is an excellent resource, though, and i recommend it to anybody out there who wants to grow closer spiritually with their "significant other."
