the getaway
thoroughly enjoyable. gulf coast getaway really was a great time this year. i went last year for the first time and it utterly sucked. i went away worse than when i got there. but this time around it didn't fail to disappoint. looking back on it, there was actually more failure on the part of the events and speakers coming off like they were planned. randy harris didn't even show, due to some ice at the atlanta airport. watershed did the worship leading this year, and they weren't the best i've seen them (though still quite awesome and better than last year's guy). they're very good at relating with people and leading the Church in community. i had an awesome time growing deeper in relationships with people, and at the end i had a huge personal breakthrough with my campus ministry about the pain of not having my sister anymore (if you're curious, i'll post about it later). i came back early with jon owen, and got to share some fun stuff, some deep stuff, and some gross stuff. gotta love the gross stuff. thank God i'm a guy.
got to lead worship for a youth rally last night. it was alright; i couldn't hear myself because of the horrible acoustics in the room, but i could see some kids singing, and the earlier rehearsal went terrific. of course, a bunch of them were just staring, even when jon got up to speak and the lights came on. was i that comatose in high school? i hope not, because i really loved Jesus a whole stinkin' bunch, and i'd hate myself knowing that the Holy Spirit was living inside of me, a gift from the God who created the universe, but all i did in worship was just stare with my mouth open. that would totally suck. honestly, i got a really weird vibe from the whole thing. just gotta trust that God was using me in that time for something.
anyway, time for work. i teach precal today!... no, i'm not a nerd, just a dork.
